Ethiopian Foreign Affairs State Minister said constitutional amendment and referendum issues might be on the table of the national dialogue the country set to hold in the near future.
State Minister Redwan Hussein told Anadolu Agency that the dialogue will solve many discords in a civil manner.
“We can amend our constitution so that all Ethiopians could see themselves relevant to participate in this broader process," he said.
There are controversies in the Ethiopian constitution that are long urged to be debated nationwide, Redwan recalled.
"Since all elements of the constitution are open for discussion in the coming national dialogue, there is no moral reason to pick up an arm," he noted.
According to him, the dialogue is open for any reasonable discussion, which might be culminated as far as the referendum.
The state minister reiterated that the national dialogue that intended to find peaceful solution for a range of political rifts includes every segment of the society including TPLF, if the group is willing to hand over its arms.
Now in its 13th month, the armed conflict between government forces and fighters from the TPLF, has claimed thousands of innocent lives and left many facing famine-like conditions as affected areas are cut off from international aid.
