The Government of Ethiopia (GoE) accused the Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF) for blocking humanitarian support to the people of Tigray while WHO DG claimed the reverse argument.
The government of Ethiopia has made individual ceasefire aimed at addressing unhindered humanitarian aid and resume agricultural works in Tigray though these efforts has been put in veins by the TPLF said the Government Communication Service.
It said in a statement that TPLF has used 1010 humanitarian aid transportation trucks for war despite the fact that the vehicles were allowed by the government only to provide support to the people of Tigray.
Then the TPLF was invaded and blocked the Abala humanitarian corridor since 15 December 2021, the statement indicated.
However, the statement added, some international organizations like WHO has been echoing TPLF's claims of access to humanitarian support instead of denouncing misdeeds of the group on corridors and health institutions which is absolutely unacceptable by the government.
The GoE is yet working with partners to provide unfettered humanitarian support to the people of Tigray, it noted.
The government also allowed 118 humanitarian tricks of the WFP to do their works although it understood the fact that earlier 1010 vehicles are still used by the TPLF for war purpose, the statement disclosed.
The government expressed commitment to facilitate further humanitarian support while calling for the international community to denounce the wrongdoings of TPLF including its act of hindering aids, according to the statement.
On Thursday, WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom was blamed the government for blocking food and pharmaceutical support.
“People in Tigray Ethiopia, living under de facto blockade for over a year, are dying from lack of medicine and food, and repeated drone attacks”, Tedros said.
He also calls for “safe, unimpeded access to deliver humanitarian aid to the millions of people in great need.”
