In a statement issued on Tuesday a Team of Solicitous Individuals about Ethiopia's Continuance (TSEC) said the under-establishment National Dialogue Commission has lost its credibility from the scratch thereby shadows on the success of the upcoming National Dialogue.

The Team has been forwarded its recommendations to stop the war and realize lasting peace.

In the statement, the Team commended the government's initiation to undertake National Dialogue and evaluated the vitality of the government effort to ensure peace through the National Dialogue Commission which is being established.

However, the Team said, the initiative will not bring lasting peace due to absence of ceasefire, lack of inclusiveness to decide on the negotiator and issues, shortage of genuine interest of the government to lead a successful national dialogue.

TSEC specifies the challenges regarding inclusiveness which the government intentionally drops while rushing for National Dialogue without participating rivals neither about the Dialogue nor in the establishment of the National Dialogue Commission through avoiding ceasefire and forming the Commission by its own.

The statement also criticized the recent announcement by the government on discussion points that removed debatable constitutional issues.

The government perceived itself as a democratically elected entity which uninvolved in any misdeed, the Team said and added this is about looking for impunity which degrades the trust of the negotiating parties and bring no lasting peace to the country.

It also described the current deliberation on the nominated individuals to lead the National Dialogue Commission “meaningless” since the nomination wasn’t inclusive and participatory.

“Currently our country is under existential threat therefore we have to be cautious and confident on the lasting result of the process before rushing to conduct the Dialogue,” the statement said.

Therefore everything should be done to the inclusiveness and participatory of the process through avoiding  personal interests and claims of power, it added.

TSEC stressed on the recommendations it has issued previously pointing out the implementation of lasting ceasefire, genuine and inclusive national dialogue, and forming transitional government for lasting peace.

However, it said, the current moves of the government to solve the problem by its own through a sham organ and process will deteriorate country’s situation.
