The Government of Ethiopia ordered the national army to stay in the areas it has recaptured, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed reaffirmed.
“We did decide this by considering the enduring solution it avails,” he said in a statement on Friday published on his official Facebook page.
“Operation for Multinational Brotherhood” was concluded with the evacuation of TPLF from Afar and Amhara regions, Abiy recalled.
“We have achieved 100% of our primary goal by ousting TPLF from the two regions and settling the national army in the areas it recaptured and scrutinizing every movement of the enemy,” he underlined.
Any decision that doesn’t facilitate the end goal of the country consolidates enemies. And militarily decisions that took unscrupulously immerse the country into extended war, he noted.
According to Abiy, the national army has legal right and obligation to enter to Tigray if it sees any occurrence that threatens the national security of the country.
In other ways, staying in the retained areas will help prevent the trap and accusation in which TPLF and its mouthpieces are looking for. Therefore, entering to Tigray at this moment is costly, the Prime Minister hinted.
Every decision is intended to ensure territorial integrity, and lasting victory, he emphasized.
