Ethiopian Trading Businesses Corporation announced that it has imported four million quintals of wheat to stabilize the local market that has seen soaring deflection, Corporation CEO Acha Demissie said.
The corporation was imported the four million quintals from the planned eight million quintals of wheat in the first round, he added.
The product which is imported at a cost of more than 11 billion Birr will be distributed in the next 15 days in five centers located in Addis Ababa, Shashemene, Bahir Dar, Adama and Dire Dawa cities.
The imported wheat is crucial to solve public grievance by curbing flour shortage and bread price increment in various bakeries, he stated.
He further stated that a close inspection will be conducted to ensure the proper distribution of the product and its access to the people.
