Ethiopia unveils 30% price cut to diasporas on tourism services

Ethiopian Ministry of Tourism disclosed 30% price reduction on hotel and other services for diasporas who planned to visit tourism destinations.

The country has been undertaken preparations to receive one million diasporas following the Prime Minister's Homecoming Challenge this January.

Accordingly, State Minister of Tourism, Sileshi Girma said on Friday the Diaspora will get the discount leverage in hotel, transport and other tourism related services.

The ministry is reopening tourist destinations and restoring injured ones, he noted.

The repatriation of the diasporas is helpful to build the good image of the country especially through promoting country’s situation to the international community, Sileshi added.

“Therefore it is crucial to correct the wrong assumption on Ethiopia that the country is in chaos,” he said.

The government has planned to enable the diasporas visit urban areas in the country in addition to the tourist attractions, according to the State Minister.

He stated that a wide influx of diasporas and friends helps to assist the national endeavour to ensure annual tourist flow.
