Ethiopia's Wonchi took Best Tourist Village award

 


Ethiopia's Wonchi Crater Lake has won Best Tourist Village award of 2021.

The mesmerizing Wonchi Crater Lake has been awarded by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for meeting the best tourist village standards.

#Ethiopia: Lake Wenchi selected as the best tourist village at Assembly of the World Tourism Organization

At the 24th General Assembly of the UNWTO, which is being held in Madrid, Spain, Lake Wenchi was chosen as the best tourist village of 2021.

Lake Wenchi, located in the Oromia region southwest of the capital Addis Ababa was selected out  of 170 other tourist villages.

Minister of Tourism, Ambassador Nassise Chali, said Lake Wenchi was chosen as one of the best tourist villages selection because of its rich natural resources. 

The ministry has organized a recognition program to the community living in the surrounding of the Lake.

Yesterday at the moment when UNWTO give the Ethiopian delegates the award in Madrid, Spain, a recognition and congratulatory program were conducted at Wonchi Crater Lake in the presence of the Minster and State Minster Tourism and other dignitaries to commend the community in Wonchi as the locality won the award of best tourism village of 2021.

On a point made by Ambassador Nassise, the community should continue its wonderful work of nature protection.
