Parliament approves establishment of National Dialogue Commission

 



The House of Peoples Representatives of Ethiopia approved the National Dialogue Establishment proclamation with a majority vote. 

 The MPs has drew common understanding on the necessity of the formation of the commission to realize consensus on national issues.

Though the Parliament said that supportive discussions had been held to incorporate the public opinion, many were requesting for revision of the proclamation article that states the members of the commission will be picked by the prime minister.

However, the Parliament mentioned incorporation of recommendations without referring whether the aforementioned article is part of the public feedback.

On the other hand, competing political parties are calling for inclusive national dialogue led by independent organ.
