Canada reaffirmed strong commitment to supporting a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ethiopia, said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a phone conversation with his Ethiopian counterpart Abiy Ahmed on current affairs.
Prime Minister Trudeau underscored the importance of ensuring unhindered access to and delivery of humanitarian assistance for those affected by the conflict.
He encouraged country’s inclusive approach to national dialogue and reconciliation.
The Prime Minister also expressed concern over the impact of recent air strikes, and emphasized the need to protect civilians, save lives, and ensure human rights are respected.
As always, Ethiopia appreciates a supportive and all-weather friend like Canada, Abiy tweed after the call.
