The Office of the President of Ethiopia announced the ambassadors' appointment that include two generals and former water and irrigation minister.
President Sahlework Zewde has appointed a total of 16 ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary, and three ambassadors to represent Ethiopia to various countries, the statement of Sahlework's Office indicated.
Among the list of appointees are General Bacha Debele and General Hassen Ibrahim, two senior army generals of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) who have become familiar faces following the war in Tigray which started in November 2020.
General Bacha was reinstated to the army on November 04, the same day the war started, along with others.
The appointment also included Seleshi Bekele (PhD), former Minister of Water and Irrigation and currently the Chief Negotiator and Advisor on Transboundary Rivers and GERD to the federal government.
According to the statement, the 16 appointees of Ambassadors of extraordinary and plenipotentiary are General Bacha Debele, General Hassen Ibrahim, Tefera Deribew, Dessie Dalke, Sileshi Bekele (PhD), Shitiye Minale, Professor Fikadu Beyene, Rashad Mohamed, Ambassador Jemal Kedir, Feysal Aliye, Isayas Gota, Tsegab Kibebew, Tafa Tulu, Genet Teshome (PhD), Dhaba Debele and Fekadu Beyene while Asaye Alemayehu, Hailay Birhane and Awel Wegris are appointed as ambassadors.
