“We need 154 billion dollars in order to find a response to the economic crisis in Africa which has been caused by pandemic and security problems,” said African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat.
Peace and security have been seriously threatened in many regions of the continent and in many of AU member states, he said.
The combined effects of various security problems and environmental degeneration, Africa generated huge flow of refugees and displaced persons, the Chairperson noted.
Coronavirus pandemic that has broken out almost two years ago yet continued to fraud various actions of the union and caused economic recession, he stated.
Africa has shown a fall in this activity to two percent which has been worsened by the rise in inflation and excruciating the debt burden, he said and added that consolidating economic multilateralism is crucial to realize recovery plan.
