African Union Chairperson Macky Sall has said that the Union will extensively work on realizing peace and security, and preventing terrorism.

The Chairman uttered this remark on Sunday in the wrap up occasion of the 35th AU Assembly.

He also thanked Ethiopia for organizing such a successful summit.

The Union will undertake various activities mainly focusing on averting coup d’etat, he noted.

The Chairperson further noted that ensuring sustainable peace is the guarantee to continental stability and multifaceted growth.

This growth cannot be achieved without tangible peace and security, he stressed.

Therefore, countries need to consolidate their political, social and economic cooperation.

He also highlighted focussing areas in which the continent should endeavour to accomplish Agenda 2063, like realizing the African Free Trade Area agreement, healthcare, industrial expansion, electrification and so on.

African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat on his part elaborated the necessity of African media to help these efforts.

The media must play due role to the realization of these African goals, he underlined.
