Ethiopia's Parliament has lifted the State of Emergency (SoE) that was implemented by the federal government as a supportive mechanism to win the war in Northern part of the country.
In its extraordinary session, the Parliament lifted the state of emergency on Tuesday with majority vote, 63 opposition and 21 abstinence.
Accordingly, State of Emergency Inspection Board has been ordered to finalize incomplete works it is undergoing in relation to the SoE within a month.
The federal government said it has prepared to undertake an inclusive national dialogue which made the removal of the SoE as an essential precondition.
