The third filling of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) has been completed a day after the country announced the commencement of energy generation from the second turbine.

The third filling has seen as the water pours over of the dam which increased by 25 meters from  what stood last year in similar period.

Announcing the completion of the third filling, PM Abiy Ahmed said on Friday that the dam now contained 22 billion meter cube water.

Up on completion, he said, the project will benefit beyond Ethiopia and other downstream and neighboring countries if they cooperate.
