Africa should establish an influential continental media to make loud pan-African voices worldwide, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed remarked.
He expressed this remark on Saturday on the opening ceremony of the 35th African Union Assembly in Addis Ababa.
He criticized the negative approach some international media reflect while reporting African stories.
Now is the right time to correct the negative rhetoric that the international media portrayed Africa as land of drought, hunger and backwardness, Abiy said.
That’s why we need to establish an African media that reflect the real agendas and stories of the continent, he added.
Therefore, Abiy urged members of the Union to contribute fair share to the formation of such media.
