Ethiopia inaugurates Dire Dawa Free Trade Zone

 


Dire Dawa Free Trade Zone would improve Ethiopia's productivity by accelerating trade exchange, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Abiy said on Sunday while inaugurating the zone.

The newly inaugurated free trade zone facilitated in Dire Dawa city is an ambitious start to realize prosperity in Ethiopia, he added. 

Abiy also called on investors to explore the opportunity the free trade zone has in stake so as to benefit themselves as well as their nation. 

Ethiopians should stand in unison to contribute share in the national effort to build better nation since the free trade zone help to create accessible market to the growing agricultural productivity, the PM stressed.

Dire Dawa City Mayor Kedir Johar expressed that the ongoing national reform enabled the city to own new projects including the free trade zone and a dry port.

According to Transport and Logistics Minister Dagmawit Mogus, the country is implementing strategies to improve import and export.

The free trade zone reduces inflation as it cuts supply chain thereby the cost of logistics, she believed.
