Ethiopia inaugurates Adwa Victory Memorial project

Ethiopia inaugurated the Adwa Victory Memorial centre that has been constructed at the heart of the capital city, Addis Ababa.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Sunday has inaugurated the memorial project that been constructed for more than 4 years at a cost of 4.6 billion Birr to commemorate the 1896 victory that Ethiopia had achieved over the invading Italian forces.

History tells that the victory of Adwa is the first ever black triumph in the fight against colonial powers.

The center incorporates conference halls, library, cinema, artwork displaying centres, children’s playing ground, sporting spaces and gyms, and parking lots and so forth.

During the inaugural ceremony, Prime Minister Abiy said the memorial centre is built to commemorate forefathers’ struggle for freedom and inherit this patriotic sentiment to the current generation.
